On Tuesday October 24, 2006 Liberty Hall received its most famous visitor to date, renowned African American actor and humanitarian, Danny Glover. The star of films such as Lethal Weapon 1-4, The Colour Purple and Beloved was in Jamaica on other business, but was anxious to stop by Liberty Hall to view the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Multimedia Museum and other facilities.  Mr. Glover is a goodwill ambassador to the United Nations Development Programme, and a self-professed admirer of Marcus Garvey’s teachings. He remarked in an interview with The Gleaner’s Flair Magazine on the day of his trip :

“I believe in the Pan-Africanist movement. Marcus Garvey was the father to this whole expansion of ourselves.  We have to go through Garvey to get an understanding of who we are as Africans and we owe a lot to him.”

Of his visit to the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Multimedia Museum, he wrote in our guest book:

“As I wander through the museum, my own memory comes alive!”
