BARBICAN WIN JNBS CHAMPIONS CUP 4-2 OVER TELECOM STRIKERS

19.07.2010 – Barbican captured the 2010 JNBS Champions Cup with an easy 4-2 win over Telecom Strikers on Sunday at Barbican Oval. It was Barbican's second straight Champions Cup title, and their fourth consecutive Kingston and St. Andrew Masters Football League Association (KSAMLA) crown in two years.

Raymond Williams opened the scoring for Barbican in the 11th minute, but Telecom pulled level in the 14th minute on David Brown's goal for a 1-1 score at the half.

Telecom took a 2-1 lead early in the second half on a poacher's goal by Dalton Woods in the 45th minute, but a fine solo run in the 47th minute by the man-of-the-match, Denton Shedden, drew the champions level at 2-2. Barbican then took full control of the game and ran out easy 4-2 winners on two unanswered goals by Mark Miller (54th), on loan from JDF, and Gary Waysome in the 70th minute.

A well outfitted Portmore Masters deservingly won the JNBS Dress Parade from Santos with Lion Kings and Constant Spring in a tie for third place. The League gets underway on Sunday, July 25 with six double-headers..
