19.07.2010 – Barbican
captured the 2010 JNBS Champions Cup with an easy 4-2 win over
Telecom Strikers on Sunday at Barbican Oval. It was Barbican's
second straight Champions Cup title, and their fourth
consecutive Kingston and St. Andrew Masters Football League
Association (KSAMLA) crown in two years.
Raymond Williams opened the
scoring for Barbican in the 11th minute, but Telecom pulled
level in the 14th minute on David Brown's goal for a 1-1 score
at the half.
Telecom took a 2-1 lead early
in the second half on a poacher's goal by Dalton Woods in the
45th minute, but a fine solo run in the 47th minute by the
man-of-the-match, Denton Shedden, drew the champions level at
2-2. Barbican then took full control of the game and ran out
easy 4-2 winners on two unanswered goals by Mark Miller (54th),
on loan from JDF, and Gary Waysome in the 70th minute.
A well outfitted Portmore
Masters deservingly won the JNBS Dress Parade from Santos with
Lion Kings and Constant Spring in a tie for third place. The
League gets underway on Sunday, July 25 with six
double-headers..
