CRAIG BUTLER BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT
July 20th, 2010

The Kingston & St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) on June 10, 2010 met with Mr. Craig Butler who had expressed an interest in meeting with Council, to reconsider a ban from football imposed on him by the KSAFA 2006/2008 Council.

The ban imposed was as a result of Mr. Butler taking the KSAFA to Court over an Affiliation Dispute in 2007, contrary to the rules of FIFA, the governing body of football. The condition of the ban is that Mr. Butler should not organize or participate in any organized football activity anywhere in Jamaica until the ban is lifted.

During a question and answer segment, following Mr. Butler’s submission to Council, a series of incidents involving him, during the period of his ban was put forward by Council members. Such incidents include a report from a member of the Referee’s Group regarding verbal abuse at a Claro/KSAFA match and his continuous participation in coaching, managerial and other football related duties.

In light of the above, the KSAFA Council 2008/2010:-

  1. Finds no basis or compelling reason for removing the ban imposed on Mr. Butler by the 2006/2008 KSAFA Council. The ban was later sanctioned by the JFF; and

  2. Notes that the actions of Mr. Butler in the instances brought to the attention of Council, demonstrated that at the least, he was disregarding, but more seriously circumventing the ban that was imposed on him.
