OVERVIEW
At the end of another challenging
year, the Council, the Secretariat, the various Committees and the
KSAFA family of Clubs can be proud of their outstanding efforts which
contributed to KSAFA remaining the premier (#1) confederation.
Congratulations must be extended to
the Chairmen and members of the following committees who performed
with enthusiasm throughout the year to complement the work of the
Council and the hardworking personnel, Bianche Marks and Kedine
Shepherd in the KSAFA Office:
Major efforts were made throughout
the year to improve the flow of information to affiliates in order to
keep them informed of the Association’s efforts and plans. To
facilitate this flow of information, Clubs and Affiliates can now log
on to the KSAFA’s Website
www.ksafa.net
, which became a reality on April 2, 2007. Before the
commencement of every competition, meetings were held with the clubs.
With the tremendous amount of
publicity generated in the media based on the numerous Press
Conferences, Presentation of Awards Ceremonies and Reports on the
various competitions, the positive image of the Association was
maintained.
The Council was able to successfully
secure sponsorship for all KSAFA competitions during the year. The
only Presentation of Awards Ceremony that has not yet been held is the
one for the Shipping Industry of Jamaica Under 15 Competition, as the
sponsors have not yet finalized the date.
Another successful year has been
achieved. On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank the members
of the Secretariat, the various Committees, Club representatives, the
Sponsors and the Media for their sterling contributions.
THANK YOU
SEMINARS
No Medical or Management seminars
were held during the year. However, every effort will be made to
ensure that they are held during the coming year.
KSAFA coaches attended a Futuro III
Coaching Course between June 11-22, 2007 which was organized by the
JFF in conjunction with the Jamaica Olympic Association. Another
football course organized by Harbour View FC, featuring a KNVB coach
from the Netherlands will be held between October 16-19, 2007. A
number of KSAFA coaches will be in attendance.
ADMINISTRATION
Ms. Bianche Marks was employed as
KSAFA’s Administrative Officer in October 2006. Ms. Margaret
Sutherland, Competitions Coordinator and a long serving KSAFA employee
resigned in February 2007. The Council has not yet employed a new
Competitions Coordinator.
During the year a number of seminars
were held by the JFF for KSAFA’s administrative staff and also for
Club representatives. These seminars focused on topics such as: the
Status of Transfer of Players; Match day Preparation; Rules,
Regulations and Competitions; Media and Football; Sports Marketing;
and Club Structure/Financial Management/Record Keeping.
A number of meetings were held with
the Premier, Super, Major and Syd Bartlett League Clubs which proved
very beneficial, as the Clubs were able to highlight certain problems
in a smaller and more convenient environment. The information gathered
from those meetings has helped to focus the Council and the KSAFA
Secretariat’s efforts to the areas that need more attention. Special
follow-up meetings were held with a few Clubs.
THE FUTURE
The KSAFA website is now a reality.
However, the electronic registration of players is still to be
implemented.
The Secretariat will continue to
focus on the following areas as we move forward into another
challenging year: Communication to Clubs; Registration of teams and
players; Timely preparation of ID Cards; Ensuring the settlement of
outstanding financial obligations by Clubs; Refereeing standards and
most importantly, Service provided to Clubs by the Office.
