UNESCO ASSISTS LIBERTY HALL

The restoration of Liberty Hall, 76 King Street in downtown Kingston, in honour of national hero, Marcus Mosiah Garvey is well underway and UNESCO has responded to the Friends of Liberty Hall by giving help with the establishment of a Multi-media unit.

UNESCO’s Communication and Information Sector provided funds for the basic research and a prototype for the development of a Multimedia Centre. Through the Primary Education Sector, two (2) computers were provided to facilitate setting up the data, referral and education section..

The Multimedia Centre will offer opportunities, especially for the young people in the communities adjacent to Liberty Hall to be trained in life-long skills. The Friends of Liberty Hall are grateful to the Jamaican National Commission for UNESCO for playing a facilitating role.

Persons interested in the ongoing restoration Project may contact Liberty Hall: The Legacy of Marcus Garvey, at 76 King Street, KINGSTON; or call (876) 948-8639 or 948-8640.
